German Social Security System
Camunda, alongside its employees, contributes towards the state-mandated social security system, which includes:
- State Pension: A step towards a secure retirement.
- Health Insurance Scheme (Krankenkasse): Access to necessary healthcare services.

Overview
As part of Germany's social security system, every employee must have health insurance coverage. In Germany, you select your own health insurance provider (Krankenkasse) and then register with them. This page outlines the process for selecting and registering with a health insurance provider as a Camunda employee.
Available Providers
You may choose from numerous public health insurance providers (gesetzliche Krankenkassen) including:
- TK (Techniker Krankenkasse)
- AOK
- Barmer
- DAK
- Many others
All statutory health insurance providers cover the legally required minimum benefits, but may differ in supplementary services, digital offerings, and customer support.

Comparison Criteria
When selecting a provider, consider:
- Contribution rates (while base rates are standardized, supplementary rates may vary slightly)
- Digital services and app functionality
- Additional wellness programs and preventive care options
- Availability of English-language support
- Location of service centers
Registration Procedure
- Select a provider based on your personal preferences and needs
- Complete the provider's registration form (most offer online application options)
- Receive your membership certificate from your chosen Krankenkasse
- Submit the certificate to the People Team:
- The payroll team will then:
- Ensure you are registered by the payroll team with the insurance provider as a Camunda employee
- Configure the correct payroll deductions
- Ensure Camunda pays the employer contribution directly to your chosen Krankenkasse

Important Information
- Health insurance coverage is mandatory from your first day of employment
- Your health insurance automatically includes long-term care insurance (Pflegeversicherung)
- Costs are shared between you and Camunda (approximately 50/50)
- Your contributions will appear on your monthly pay slip
- New employees to Germany should select and register with a Krankenkasse as soon as possible
Changing your Krankenkasse
- If you change your Krankenkasse at any point during your employment, please notify the People Team immediately through the #ask-people-team Slack channel to ensure your payroll deductions are updated correctly
- Care in Old Age Insurance Scheme: Extra support in your later years.
- Unemployment Insurance Scheme: Coverage during times of employment transition.
Details of each contribution are calculated monthly by payroll and clearly stated on your monthly pay-slip and its employees contributions towards a state pension, health insurance scheme, care in old age insurance scheme and unemployment insurance scheme are mandatory, as required by the state system. The payments are calculated each month by payroll and are shown on the employee pay-slips.

3] Camunda Private Pension Scheme
At Camunda you get the option of an additional non-compulsory pension plan after completing your probationary period. Once you completed that period successfully, People Operations will reach out automatically and gets you in touch with our banking Partner.
Camunda offers an employer match of up to 20% to a pension scheme run in partnership with Zurich Insurance
Pension Process
People Team:
- Offers Pension scheme Benefit to Employee after probation period
- At the probation period end date bob will send an automated email to the employee asking if they wish to join the pension plan.
- If yes:
- Employee emails People Operations expressing an interest in joining the scheme.
- People Operations introduces the employee & our pension scheme contact at Zurich.
- Employee agrees on a contract with Zurich.
- Zurich sends over PDF-Documents to people-operations@camunda.com.
- People Ops sends Docs via DocuSign.
- Add Boni Hock as signatory for Camunda.
- Clemens Morgenroth in Boni’s absence.
- Adding Zurich point of contact (sebastian.pietruszka@db.com) in cc
- Adding Payroll ( Doris.coleman@camunda.com ) in cc
- Add Boni Hock as signatory for Camunda.
- People Ops: Uploads signed Contract to Employee File in Bob
- If no:
- Take no action.
- If employee, changes mind and would like to join scheme, follow steps as if yes above.
- Supports Employee with high level support if necessary
Finance:
- Receives signed contract in CC via docusign.
- Applies details of the contract to the employees payroll calculations.
- Manages & informs vendor regarding pension fund for Parental Leaves ( and other long term leaves)
- A task from bob will be triggered in the event of leavers.
- Manages Camunda Exits and their contract termination with vendor.
- A task from bob will be triggered in the event of leavers.
- Applies changes of contract to payroll.
- Manages monthly bill from Insurance provider.
- Provides payroll guidance around the topic.
