The World Health Organization (WHO) defines mental health as “a state of well-being in which an individual realizes [their] abilities, can cope with the mental stresses of life, can work productively and is able to make a contribution to [their] community.”
The WHO also emphasizes that mental health is about more than the absence of mental disorders, but rather people’s overall state of mental wellbeing.
