1] Overview

At Camunda, we're dedicated to supporting every member of our global team with benefits that matter. Rooted in our core principles, our benefits program in Germany is designed to be competitive, transparent, and equitable, reflecting our commitment to enhancing the health, well-being, and security of our employees.

For our team members in Germany, we offer additional benefits that complement our global perks:

2] German Social Security System

Camunda, alongside its employees, contributes towards the state-mandated social security system, which includes:

  • State Pension: A step towards a secure retirement.
  • Health Insurance Scheme (Krankenkasse): Access to necessary healthcare services.
    • Health Insurance (Krankenkasse) Selection

      Overview

As part of Germany's social security system, every employee must have health insurance coverage. In Germany, you select your own health insurance provider (Krankenkasse) and then register with them. This page outlines the process for selecting and registering with a health insurance provider as a Camunda employee.

      Available Providers

You may choose from numerous public health insurance providers (gesetzliche Krankenkassen) including:

      • TK (Techniker Krankenkasse)
      • AOK
      • Barmer
      • DAK
      • Many others

All statutory health insurance providers cover the legally required minimum benefits, but may differ in supplementary services, digital offerings, and customer support.

Here you will find comprehensive information about each statutory health insurance company: detailed information on benefits, service, optional tariffs, supplementary insurance and more.

      Comparison Criteria

      When selecting a provider, consider:

      • Contribution rates (while base rates are standardized, supplementary rates may vary slightly)
      • Digital services and app functionality
      • Additional wellness programs and preventive care options
      • Availability of English-language support
      • Location of service centers

      Registration Procedure

      1. Select a provider based on your personal preferences and needs
      2. Complete the provider's registration form (most offer online application options)
      3. Receive your membership certificate from your chosen Krankenkasse
      4. Submit the certificate to the People Team:
        • The payroll team will then:
          • Ensure you are registered by the payroll team with the insurance provider as a Camunda employee
          • Configure the correct payroll deductions
          • Ensure Camunda pays the employer contribution directly to your chosen Krankenkasse

      Important Information

      • Health insurance coverage is mandatory from your first day of employment
      • Your health insurance automatically includes long-term care insurance (Pflegeversicherung)
      • Costs are shared between you and Camunda (approximately 50/50)
      • Your contributions will appear on your monthly pay slip
      • New employees to Germany should select and register with a Krankenkasse as soon as possible

      Changing your Krankenkasse

      • If you change your Krankenkasse at any point during your employment, please notify the People Team immediately through the #ask-people-team Slack channel to ensure your payroll deductions are updated correctly
  • Care in Old Age Insurance Scheme: Extra support in your later years.
  • Unemployment Insurance Scheme: Coverage during times of employment transition.

Details of each contribution are calculated monthly by payroll and clearly stated on your monthly pay-slip.
