Overview

What is PEO/EOR?

An Employer of Record (EOR) is a service provider that acts as the legal employer for a workforce on behalf of a client company (Camunda). They handle & assist with HR functions, payroll, tax compliance, benefits, and ensure legal and regulatory adherence.

Why do we use a PEO/EOR?

We currently use a PEO/EOR to employ in locations where we do not have legal entities, we currently have entities in Germany, USA, UK & Singapore, for all other locations we use a PEO/EOR. Operating in this way truly enables us to find global & remote talent.

For some more detail heres what chatGPT has to say about "why companies use EORs?":

  1. Global Expansion: EORs facilitate international expansion by allowing companies to hire and manage employees in foreign countries without establishing legal entities there.

  2. Compliance: EORs ensure compliance with local labor laws, tax regulations, and employment standards, reducing the risk of legal issues and penalties.

  3. Cost Savings: EORs can help businesses save on administrative costs and time associated with HR and payroll processing.

  4. Efficiency: EORs streamline HR processes, including payroll, benefits administration, and onboarding, freeing up resources for core business activities.

  5. Risk Mitigation: EORs assume legal liability as the employer of record, reducing the client company's exposure to employment-related risks.

  6. Flexibility: Businesses can quickly scale their workforce up or down, adapt to market changes, or manage seasonal or project-based employment needs using EOR services.

  7. Expertise: EORs have expertise in global employment regulations, allowing clients to navigate complex international labor laws.

  8. Focus on Core Operations: By outsourcing HR-related tasks to EORs, companies can concentrate on their core business functions and strategic goals.

  9. Remote Workforce Management: EORs assist with hiring and managing remote or distributed teams, ensuring compliance and efficiency.

In summary, businesses use Employer of Record services to simplify international expansion, stay compliant with employment laws, reduce administrative burdens, manage employment risks, and focus on their core operations.

Who is our preferred PEO/EOR provider?

We currently use remote.com as our preferred provider. To make things clearer in the following sections we will refer to remote.com instead of PEO/EOR.

What are the differences with being a Remote.com Camundi?

Overview

In short we strive to ensure that ALL Camundi regardless of location or employer have a consistent employment experience. We do this by ensuring all our core benefits & programmes are applicable across the board.

Offer Stage

If you are in a location where we use Remote.com & you have accepted an offer to join Camundi we will provide the details of your offer to remote.com via a secure automation from greenhouse to their dedicated platform. At this point remote will draw up your employment agreement & you will be sent it for signing.

Due to certain co-employment risks we cannot include the following information in remote.com contracts:

  • VSOP
    • When you start at Camunda you will be sent a VSOP allotment letter for the share amount that was offered to you. This is sent within your first two weeks of employment by our People Ops team via a platform called Ledgy.
  • Specific Camunda Policies & Detail eg FTO.
    • Remote.com contracts will typically state the following to cover this fact
      • "Any additional XX entitlements, if any, will be granted to the Employee in accordance with the Employer’s and/or the Client’s policies."

    • Please note, this is consistent with our entity contracts, typically benefits & company programmes are not contractual.
  • Sales Incentive Plan / Variable Pay Plan information (Field Ops Roles only)
    • When you start at Camunda you will be sent a variable pay letter for the bonus/comission amount that was offered to you. This is sent within your first two weeks of employment by our People Ops or RevOps dependent on your role.

Onboarding

Once your contract is signed and your remote.com profile is complete you will move to onboarding, at this point you will have no more interactions with remote or their onboarding specialists. Camunda will take over and your point of contract will be People Connect. During this stage our focus will be on your Camunda onboarding and getting you setup for your first day.

During the employee lifecycle

    • Each pay run will be completed by Remote.com, you will receive your payslip via their platform. Typically this is received one day prior to your payd ate.
  • Inputting time off
    • To ensure compliance you will need to enter your time off in bob our HRIS systems & on remote.com's platform - https://employ.remote.com/
